BE FEARLESS! EMBRACE THE SMALLEST FLUTE! MAKE PEACE WITH THE PICCOLO!
TUESDAY, MARCH 7 | 6:30-8:30pm: Advanced Piccolo Masterclass – Cynthia will work advanced piccolo techniques and repertoire with experienced piccolo players. Four of Victoria’s finest students will be featured as performers. All are invited to audit. For those wishing to perform, please read the application information below.
Experienced performers on piccolo who wish to be considered as performers for the Advanced Piccolo Masterclass should submit their name, email address and proposed repertoire (maximum 10 minutes of music) to Emily Nagelbach email@example.com before 11:59 p.m. on February 10. All chosen performers are expected to purchase a workshop pass; performers not registered for lessons at VCM during Semester 2 will add $10 as a non-VCM student performer’s fee. No pianist is scheduled for the class, however chosen performers may bring, if they wish and at their own expense, a collaborative pianist. Masterclass organizers will select from those names and programs put forward the four performers who together will contribute to a balanced and excellent course experience for both performers and auditors. Performing professionals and players not registered as students at the VCM are encouraged to apply on the understanding that preference will be given first to the program content and second to registered VCM students. Chosen performers will be notified on or before February 15th.
When the performers are selected and notified, they must purchase a workshop pass and pay the performer’s fee within 5 days, or their performance slot may be filled by an alternate.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8 | 5:00-6:00pm: Cynthia will be joined by pianist Wendy Stofer in a rollicking concert of repertoire for piccolo and piano. This will be totally out of the box, the piccolo at its expressive and flamboyant best.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8 | 7:00-8:30pm: Workshop – Cynthia will guide novices through the ins and outs of building a basic, functional, healthy piccolo technique. This workshop is hands-on, and appropriate for flutists of any level. No previous experience with the piccolo is needed. Bring your own piccolo, borrow your school’s, or test out one of those on loan at the workshop.
