FUELLING THE PASSION FOR MUSIC

February 25th, 2017 will once again be one of the most important and special days at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. For both musicians and audience members it is an experience that enriches lives and ignites spirits.

We invite you to join us as top student vocalists and instrumentalists perform alongside professional musicians and the VCM Senior String Orchestra.

“A music student comes to the VCM with a spark of interest,
We feed the spark and it becomes a flame
We feed the flame and it becomes a fire
We feed the fire and it becomes a roaring blaze”!

Featured soloists:

  • Concerto no.3 op.37, I. Allegro con brio – Beethoven -Aimi Howden (piano)
  • Ah Perfido, op.65 – Beethoven -Jennifer Turner (voice)
  • Double Concerto in E minor op.88, I. Andante con moto – Bruch -Emma Reader-Lee (violin) and Kate Moran (viola)
  • Sonata per la Grand Viola – Paganini -Andrew Montgomery (viola)

“It is a dream that many aspiring music students have, however few realize: to one day play or sing as soloist with a symphony orchestra, with a famous conductor, in front of a full house of people who support them and share their love for music,” said Victoria Conservatory of Music’s  Dean Stephen Green. “Spark to Flame makes that possible, because we know realizing that dream is enough to turn the spark of talent, and passion for music a young student has, into the flame that their teachers at the VCM will nurture into the roaring blaze that fuels a great career.  It all begins with the spark, a great concert program, and a supportive audience.”

Enjoy a look/listen to last year’s performance.
