Winds and Brass Dept Special Events and Masterclasses (2017-2018):
Studying at the VCM has its advantages – in addition to Special Events that give students rare opportunities to benefit from the knowledge and experience of visiting top artists, students enrolled in studio instruction have the added bonus of regular masterclasses, that allow them to drill down into all kinds of important details that are often caught by a “second pair of ears” – i.e. a second opinion. The VCM’s Dept. of Winds and Brass provides a number of highly experienced clinicians throughout the year, with regular masterclasses taking place on Wednesday evenings from 7-8:30 pm in room 303 at the VCM Downtown location.
Each class focuses on performance elements, tone, technique, ensemble, performance practice and more. Currently registered VCM wind & brass students are encouraged to attend. Students wishing to perform should contact the department head, Emily Nagelbach, at email@example.com with their desired date and repertoire.
Facilitated through a rotation of senior VCM wind & brass teachers, including the department head, this year we are featuring special events that include a masterclass with Stephanie Bell, flute (Oct 25), and visiting National Arts Centre Orchestra members Joanna G’froerer (flute), and Karen Donnelly (trumpet).
