Mezzo Soprano Rebecca Hass is an active singer, actor, freelance writer, radio documentary creator, broadcaster and life and performance coach. She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor in Vocal Performance and continued her training with the Canadian Opera company Ensemble and Merola at San Franscisco Opera.
As a freelance performer, she has had a widely varied career, appearing across Canada with almost every opera company and numerous symphonies as a principal performer in operas and concerts by composers from Mozart to Wagner. A swing in the Toronto Cast of Phantom of the Opera, Rebecca has also pursued her love of music theatre locally with the Belfry Theatre, Gotta Getta a Gimmick and Theatre Skam. Self produced works have included several one woman shows. Most recently her video and audio installation of “His Kiss” was featured at the Spark Festival and ‘The Ring in 10’ for Theatre Skam’s Bike Ride.
As a Certified Creative Living Coach, Rebecca has worked extensively with up and coming performing artists in opera and music theatre at Opera Nuova, St. Andrews Opera Workshop, Calgary Opera and Pacific Opera. She offers tools in goal setting and ways to effectively meet the challenges of making a living and a life, as an artist. An avid storyteller, Rebecca believes the voice is a tool box and encourage all her students to work with as many colours as possible.
