Our 33rd Annual Mother’s Day Musical Garden Tour features ten incredible private gardens. Their descriptions are below and their locations are revealed within your physical ticket.
A NATIONAL TREASURE
With acres on the Pacific – and a lighthouse. Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse presents an excellent example of how to create a beautiful landscape with native plants. Bring your picnic with you and enjoy the garden, beaches and views.
A passion for life is truly evident in this garden as it is planted for hummingbirds. Enjoy the charming garden room and amble along the winding pathways among great plant varieties, as well as tiered views of this enchanting place for life.
PROFESSIONAL GARDENER’S OWN PRIVATE GARDEN
A plant haven for rescued, unwanted orphans and new plants has found a glorious home in this family heritage garden. Sweeping mixed borders and stonework add to the overall beauty of this multi-leveled and multi-use space.
This hidden hilltop hideaway majestically combines exotic and native plants. Wander from “room to room” to admire the weaving of formal plantings with the encroaching wild lands. The entrance way to the house is new, so do admire the portico planting.
EAST MEETS WEST
Grass is the river. Beds are the islands. This garden is 27 years in the making. It upholds the spiritual and contemplative essences of a true Japanese garden in over 2 acres of stunning vistas. Red is a favourite and lucky colour used to highlight new features.
AN OAK BAY CLASSIC
Enter this garden under the clambering Montana Clematis arch. Sophisticated new plantings add to an old and established garden. A small formal pool and happy chickens exist in harmony and add to the tranquility of this peaceful space.
DRAKEFEARANN OR DRAGON FEAR
Be prepared to be amazed by this modern day estate surrounded by an elegant garden. Contemplate the meditation garden. Winding paths traverse dry creek beds, and the whole is shaded by ancient trees.
Heritage fruit trees, over 30 years old, are pruned to perfection. Dogwoods greet you as you enter this enchanting space, highlighted by limelight hydrangeas, glorious hostas, and a magnificent yellow tree peony.
The result of pushing the envelope by growing “tender” plants are exhibited here in an array of rare and exotic flora from Australia, Tasmania, and South Africa which grow in wild abandon. Not to be missed.
