If you choose, you may designate your gift or sponsorship for a specific purpose. Here are some options:
Operational and Program Needs
- Gifts that support our operational needs are a priority, and help to turn on the lights, register students, tune over 75 pianos and much, much more.
- Maintenance of the Conservatory building, ongoing repair and conservation work
- Programs, such as Music Therapy, Collegium Program, Community School, Opera Studio, the Summer Music Academies, orchestras and ensembles, children’s programs, specific department initiatives
- Underwriting / sponsorship of concert series and special presentations by faculty and guest artists
- Improvements to the library, including new acquisitions of books, recordings, and scores. We also need furnishings, technology, and access to important online resources.
Capital Needs
Enhancements to the Alix Goolden Performance Hall increase the Hall’s comfort and safety and add delight to the concert experience. Plans include new seating, acoustic improvements, a seismic upgrade, safety improvements to the stairwell, and external and internal signage.
Over the longer term, projects will include further enhancements to the sound and lighting in Alix Goolden Hall and refurbishment of the splendid stained glass windows and the 1910 Casavant pipe organ.
This conservation work is needed to ensure that this jewel of a building remains in daily use by the community for many decades to come.
Scholarship and Bursary Fund
Over the last four years alone, the Conservatory has provided over $200,000 in tuition assistance through our Scholarship and Bursary Program. Income from the Fund is used while the capital is left untouched, making this an effective way to make a gift that never stops giving and to ensure that lack of money is not a barrier to our students.
Many generous people have made donations over the years. In addition, some 80 named Funds have been set up for specific purposes through gifts and bequests.
