The following information applies to the three Camosun College post-secondary music programs: Certificate in Music Foundations, Diploma in Music, and Diploma in Jazz Studies.

Important: The Victoria Conservatory of Music cannot guarantee that a student will be able to study with the teacher of choice.

Tuition and Other Costs

  • International Students: Please email Camosun College International Student Service at International Education Camosun for current price information.
  • Domestic and Permanent Residents: For all three Camosun/VCM Post-Secondary Programs, tuition for domestic/permanent resident students is based on the number of courses taken plus ancillary fees.
  • All programs: Textbooks and music are extra to tuition.

Application Deadlines

    • For Domestic and International Candidates: The application deadline for September admission is February 28. Note that there is only one intake per academic year.
    • Late Applicants: Depending on the number of available spaces in the program, some late applicants may be accepted. We will continue to accept applications on a space available basis until June 1, with ALL application components, including the audition and theory placement, to be completed no later than June 15. Auditions

Auditions take place during late March or early April for First Instrument Studies. Live auditions are preferred.

Application Requirements

1. Domestic and Permanent Residents
Please submit the following:

  • Audition materials: ONLY if unable to audition in person in Victoria, submit a high-quality DVD or VHS recording. In addition, a high-quality CD or tape should be included. Note that a live audition is highly recommended if possible.
  • Transcripts: High School and any post-secondary institutions attended. Translations into English must be provided.
  • Two letters of reference: One should be from your current first instrument or voice teacher.
  • Applicant questionnaire: Please complete the VCM Post-Secondary Application Questionnaire print it, and enclose it with your application materials.
  • Application Fee of $36.41, payable to Camosun College.
  • Assessment Fee of $75, payable to the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Note that if an accompanist is required in the audition, the applicant is responsible for the fee and the scheduling.

2. International Students

International student applications have 2 separate sections. The completion of BOTH SECTIONS is necessary to complete the application process. Please read Part A and Part B carefully.
