After graduating from the U of A, and teaching for the Edmonton Public School Board, Joanne benefited from four years of trumpet study in Chicago, studying primarily with Mr Luther Didrickson (Northwestern University) and Mr Mark Ponzo (Northern Illinois University), but also with William Scarlett (Chicago Symphony Orchestra), the late Arnold Jacobs, and Barbara Butler (Rice University). Crystal Wiksyk

Crystal studied theory and teacher training with Rodney Webster at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Her further theory studies with Dr.Roman Toi of the Royal Conservatory of Music. She was trained in piano with David Bulmer and Phylis Shuldt; jazz with George Essihos. Crystal’s piano Teacher Training was with Winifred Wood, and included classes with Dr.Robin Wood and Edward Parker. Crystal is the Co-author of the Sound Advice theory and ear-training program published by Frederick Harris Music.

Scott MacInnes

Scott MacInnes has become a leader in the musical community as a performer, conductor, composer, arranger and clinician. In the fall of 2005 Scott moved to British Columbia to play bass trombone for a season with the Victoria Symphony. The following year he joined both the University of Victoria and Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra (VISO). As a member of the VISO for the past 10 years he has held the position of Principal Bass Trombone. Kelly Avril Nordstrom is native to Canada’s West Coast and is well known as a gifted producer and educator. Most recently, Kelly celebrated the award winning debut release of his studio collaboration with the band “Sound of Contact”, featuring Simon Collins, Dave Kerzner and Matt Dorsey entitled “Dimensionaut”. SoC (Sound of Contact) was mixed by Producer Nick Davis (Genesis, Tony Banks, Mike + the Mechanics, XTC, Marillion…) and received the prestigious “Limelight Award” at the “Progressive Music Awards 2013” held in the UK, marking an important touchstone of Kelly’s musical and technical abilities. Judith Pazder graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance. She has taught in Windsor, Halifax and Vancouver, where she founded the Millennium Flute Ensemble. Judith is on faculty at the Victoria Conservatory of Music and has been the director of the Academy Flute Choir for the past 10 years. In 2014 she started organizing Flute Boot camps and the program has now been expanded to include trumpet and saxophone. Judith is also involved in recorder teaching, study and performance.

Open to flutists of all ages to play music written for large and small “orchestras” of flutes. The choir provides an opportunity to learn to play bass flute, alto flute and/or piccolo. For players with strong ensemble and playing skills. A Grade 4 RCM level is recommended.
