Adult Group Flute

Program Outline

These classes offer students a fun and approachable way to learn the flute while building their skills in music reading, rhythms and ensemble playing. After learning only a few notes, you’ll be playing familiar folk songs and classical pieces with piano accompaniment, as well as duos, trios and quartets – all with the emphasis on enjoyment and proper technique.  As students advance, they will tackle more diverse repertoire and more advanced flute techniques.  Prior to registration, please contact the instructor to determine proper placement.  Other class times may be available.  Please contact instructor for current schedule.

New Beginnings

This class is for those new to the flute and music instruction. Students will progress through a graduated course focused on building flute skills, reading music and making music together. No experience necessary.

Building on the Foundations

In this class, students will explore expression and communication through the development of good tone.  Students will expand on their music reading and rhythm skills through engaging repertoire for duos, trios or quartets.  For students who have some prior knowledge of the flute and know how to read music.

Adult Group Flute: Into the Ensemble

In this class, students with both a solid flute background and good music reading skills will learn to take their ensemble playing to the next level. This group will also work on performance preparation, building technical skills and tone development through their exploration of repertoire though the ages.
