Create a Legacy

Make Music Your Legacy

Music is an integral part of life’s experiences, and leaving a legacy to the Victoria Conservatory of Music is a powerful, profound way to enrich the future of our community. Financial gifts have resulted in a number of vital advances over our organization’s history, from the creation of a strong music scholarship and bursary resource to property purchase and renewal. With each significant gift, we move closer to our founding vision of accessibility and sustainability in the South Island.

Naming Opportunities

Named gifts are a meaningful way to further the mission of the Victoria Conservatory of Music, while building a lasting legacy for yourself or a loved one. Opportunities include a named student award, a physical space, or customizing an opportunity that speaks to you.

The Goolden Legacy

The Victoria Conservatory of Music owes its existence to an individual who demonstrated extraordinary foresight and commitment to music in our community, our founder, Mrs. Alix Goolden. Her gift to us was a living legacy, used to establish the Alix Goolden Performance Hall which is now one of the finest in the region. Mrs. Goolden was an inspiration to many including her family who continue to support her vision and provide for the future of the Conservatory.

Operating Endowment Fund

Since 1964 the Victoria Conservatory of Music has nurtured generations of students, enhancing lives in our community through the power of music. We have been supported by loyal donors who believe in our mission and the importance of music in our community. This tradition of philanthropy continues, and as we look to the future it is critical that we build an endowment to ensure that we continue to serve our community.

A gift to the Victoria Conservatory of Music’s Operating Endowment Fund ensures sustainability today and into the future, providing a steady, stable foundation for us to pursue our timeless mission. This fund is held at the Victoria Foundation, our trusted community partner.

Matching Potential: Added Impact

All donations to this permanently endowed fund have the potential to be matched from the Canada Cultural Investment Fund through the federal Department of Canadian Heritage, so your gift will have a much greater impact, ensuring a steady annual income to support our programming and heritage building.
