Registration Fee
Each school year, all students are required to pay a registration fee. These fees are due at the time of registration and are applicable once per academic year. Registration fees are as follows:
- Students enrolled in private lessons, plus any additional classes and/or ensembles: $50
- Each additional family member: $10
- Group Classes (incl: Children’s Music, Continuing Education, and Theory): $25
- Ensembles: $25
- Enrollments where tuition is less than $250: $25
- Summer Academies: Non-VCM Students: $50; VCM Students (enrolled in the current year): $25
Registration fees are waived for Music Therapy clients.
Course Resource & Music Rental Fee
Students are responsible for additional costs for music and books. For some courses, a course resource fee is due at the time of registration, which covers the cost of handouts, music or supplies provided by the instructor. For other courses, such as ensembles, choirs and orchestras, a music rental fee is due at registration to cover the cost of renting music to be studied. These fees are included in the class descriptions.
Fee Schedules
Individual Lessons
Teachers teach in four fee groups, which are determined by several factors, including the level or age group the teacher will teach, the teacher’s background and preference of fee group, and the recommendation of the Department Head. Fee group ‘ST’ is reserved for lessons with student teachers, who are available to teach on a limited basis, beginning in October.
For individual lessons, there are 36 weeks in the academic year (September to May). Students enrolling for the optional summer term should consult their teachers to determine the appropriate number of lessons.
Rates below are for individual instruction. Full-year rates represent typical costs of weekly lessons from September to the end of May.
Group Class Instruction
Unless otherwise indicated, all group classes and ensembles are full-year courses (28, 32 or 34 weeks), which run from September to May. Please consult the Community School Departments for specific group class tuition rates.
