The VCM Senior String Orchestra
The VCM Senior String Orchestra (SSO), directed by David Visentin, is an intensive string orchestra program for advanced students (Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 7 or higher). They have distinguished themselves as a strong and supportive ensemble, known for their superbly-played dynamic performances. SSO recently successfully mounted its first-ever tour to Vancouver in March 2018 and joined forces with the University of North Carolina (Charlotte) Chamber Orchestra (UNCCO), Handsworth and Sentinel High Schools from West Vancouver and the St. James Music Academy for joint performances at the Kay Meek Centre. The Orchestras Project was organized by UVic alumni hornplayer and conductor Dr. Jonathan Govias who conducts the UNCCO. They recently performed with Sarah Slean and completed a recording project with producer Theresa Leonard.
