SUMMARY:Pacific Baroque Festival 2025 - Concert #2
DESCRIPTION:This concert is located at Christ Church Cathedral\, 930 Burdett Avenue \n\n\n\nWhy stay at home when there’s a whole world to explore? In the organ lofts of Europe’s great cathedrals\, Baroque keyboard players had unparalleled resources for musical expression\, with all the grandeur and drama you could wish for. This program will take us on a musical tour of seventeenth-century Europe\, stopping at the great churches of five major cities to hear the resident organists improvising: Seville\, Rome\, Augsburg\, Passau\, and Lübeck. The organ at Christ Church Cathedral provides an ideal venue for this program\, which features some of the gloriously colourful South German music that inspired Helmuth Wolff to build this instrument. \n\n\n\n\n \n\nConcert #1 | February 18\, 7:30pm\, St Barnabas Church. This concert is not included in the Festival Pass\, tickets must be purchased separately. \n\nConcert #3 | February 20\, 11:00am\, Alix Goolden Performance Hall \n\nConcert #4 | February 21\, 7:30pm\, Alix Goolden Performance Hall \n\nConcert #5 | February 22\, 7:30pm\, Alix Goolden Performance Hall \n\nChoral Evensong | February 23\, 4:00pm\, Christ Church Cathedral | Free Admission

SUMMARY:Pacific Baroque Festival 2025 - Concert #1
DESCRIPTION:This concert is located at St. Barnabas Church\, 1525 Begbie Street \n\n\n\nWorld travel may have its attractions\, but in the end there’s no place like home. In the privacy of a comfortable music room\, Baroque keyboard players could explore musical ideas that were too intimate—or too irreverent—for a formal public setting. This program explores the capabilities of the Brombaugh chamber organ at St Barnabas Church to capture the sounds of home: laughter and tears\, songs and dances\, and even the sounds of a few domestic animals. \n\n\n\nDue to space limitations\, this concert is not included in the Festival Pass. Tickets for this concert must be purchased separately. \n\n \n\nConcert #2 | February 19\, 7:30pm\, Christ Church Cathedral \n\nConcert #3 | February 20\, 11:00am\, Alix Goolden Performance Hall \n\nConcert #4 | February 21\, 7:30pm\, Alix Goolden Performance Hall \n\nConcert #5 | February 22\, 7:30pm\, Alix Goolden Performance Hall \n\nChoral Evensong | February 23\, 4:00pm\, Christ Church Cathedral | Free Admission.

SUMMARY:Ari’s Theme
DESCRIPTION:Entrance for this film in the Alix Goolden Performance Hall is at 900 Johnson Street\n\n\n\nPart of the Victoria Film Festival\n\nDirectors: Nathan Drillot\, Jeff Lee Petry \nCanada / 2024 / 99 min / Music Documentary \n\nHaving grown up in the embrace of a loving family\, Ari Kinarthy’s earliest days were marked by a liberated sense of infinite time\, until his life was irrevocably changed by a diagnosis of type-2 spinal muscular atrophy\, a condition that progressively weakens his muscles. Confronting the reality of his own mortality at 34 years old\, the acclaimed Victoria-based music composer is driven by a singular\, urgent need: to leave behind a legacy that reflects the richness of his life. \n\nDetermined to capture the essence of his experiences before it’s too late\, Ari embarks on an ambitious and deeply personal composition inspired by the most treasured moments of his journey. Working through the daunting task of translating his memories and emotions into music\, he discovers the true power of artistic collaboration. With creativity\, perseverance and vulnerability the project takes shape as Ari develops a deeper connection to fellow musicians\, friends\, and loved ones. – AR \n\n\nVenue Accessibility\nThe 900 Johnson Street entrance is at ground-level and wheelchair accessible.
