Admission is by donation. \n\nConcert Dedicated to Bill Birney \nAn afternoon concert with seven Adult Combo Groups playing music from Jazz to Contemporary classics\, under the direction of Joey Smith. \nAttendees are welcome to drop in and stay for the length of their preference. To honour the dedication and artistry of our student performers\, we kindly ask guests to enter the venue during applause breaks between performances. \nInterested in joining an Adult Combo group? This year’s performances feature many special guests along with the young fiddlers of the Old-Time Danceband and the BC Fiddle Orchestra (BCFO) who will be joined by some alumni from the past 31 years of BCFO history. Also adding to the toe-tapping excitement of the evening will be members of Folkestra! and the always popular Joy of Life Choir\, backed by the mighty Joy of Life House Band of renowned local musicians: \n\nBass: Rick May \nPedal Steel/Guitar: Tyler Lieb \nOrgan/Piano: Danuel Tate \nPiano: Cindy Fairbank\nDrums: Geoff Hicks\n\n\nThis year’s special guest is Leeroy Stagger\, an acclaimed singer-songwriter known for his raw\, heartfelt lyrics and a sound that blends rock\, folk\, and Americana. With a career spanning over two decades\, Stagger has released multiple albums and toured internationally\, captivating audiences with his storytelling and rich musicality.  \n\n\n\n\n“This year’s concert will be a very special occasion as we welcome Leeroy Stagger as our guest for the first time. The youth fiddlers are poised and ready to celebrate the launch of a new album with you entitled ‘Tumbleweed Rag’ and the Joy of Life choir has some stellar new songs that will be performed for the first time. To honour the dedication and artistry of our student performers\, we kindly ask guests to enter the venue during applause breaks between performances. Let us come together to support these aspiring musicians on their journey. \n\n\nVoice Competitions\n\nThe Classical Voice Department offers six annual Song Competitions for current students of the Victoria Conservatory of Music to perform\, compete\, and receive feedback from renowned and respected adjudicators. \n\nFirst and Second Prizes as well as Honourable Mentions are available to be awarded for each competition. Spirit of Song awards may also be given at the discretion of the adjudicators. \n\nView the list of Voice Competitions here. \n\nAbout the French Art Song Competition\n\nThe Classical Voice Department provides this opportunity for students of all ages and abilities to perform one or two French Art Songs. \n\nStudent participants perform in Alix Goolden Performance Hall and receive feedback from adjudicators. \n\n\n\n\nVenue Accessibility\nThe 900 Johnson Street entrance is at ground-level and wheelchair accessible.
