SUMMARY:Daniel Lapp's Joy of Life Concerts
DESCRIPTION:Entry for this concert will be at the Victoria Conservatory of Music – 900 Johnson Street. \n\nAbout the concert\nJoin us as Daniel Lapp brings together a delightful mix of performers for two amazing performances on the Alix Goolden Performance Hall stage. Performers include the young fiddlers of the BC Fiddle Orchestra and Old-time Danceband\, joined by alumni as they celebrate their 30th year! Daniel Lapp’s Folkestra! and Joy of Life Choir bring the excitement of spring to the stage with many favourite Canadian tunes. This year’s special guest performers will be backed by the mighty Joy of Life House Band of renowned local musicians. The Joy of Life has a 20+ year history of inspiring all ages through the power of music\, to care for each other and for our planet. \n\nSpecial Guest: Ed Peekeekoot\nMulti-instrumentalist\, singer-songwriter\, and story-teller\, Ed Peekeekoot is a skilled and seasoned performer. He has a timeless kind of cool that appeals to audiences of all ages. Ed’s performances go from blazing guitar work to foot stomping fiddle and haunting Native flute – all sprinkled with his Cree humor and philosophy. He takes people on a wildly varied musical journey from country folk to a touch of classical and jazz. \n\nSpecial Guest: Marin Patenaude\nMarin was taught to appreciate the things in life built with your own hands and heart\, and she has created a body of work that is exquisitely her own. Releasing her first album The Follow Through in 2016\, Marin continues to reveal an indomitable and independent spirit\, yet a heart vulnerable to deep desire for the intimacy of love and romance. Her second release Sight Unseen can be found among the precious but few to sign to Dallas Green’s (City and Colour) label Still Records. Distributed by Dine Alone Records (Toronto)\, her most recent album Sex & Dying hit the shelves early 2023. \n\nIn the small town of Horsefly BC\, she was raised on harmony and sawdust in a family band of Folk and Country. She’s an accomplished piano player and plays an old guitar like a long lost lover and can find the harmony in everything. Marin works within the music industry from many angles. She has been Artistic Director and Production Manager for the festival Arts on the Fly for 12 years\, has booked tours in Europe and across Canada\, and is a regular session harmony singer for recording bands in Vancouver. \n\nSponsored by Peninsula Co-op \n \n\n\nVenue Accessibility\nThe 900 Johnson Street entrance is at ground-level and wheelchair accessible. There is an elevator located on the first floor: as you enter the building go down the ramp to your right and the elevator is on the left at the bottom. Priority seating can be provided at concerts if you have accessibility issues; please contact the Venues Department . Wheelchair accessible restrooms are located on the main floor\, beside the lobby in the Reception and Registration area.
