DESCRIPTION:Entrance to this event is at the Victoria Conservatory of Music at 900 Johnson Street. Free admission. This special Thursday Lunch Concert is in Alix Goolden Performance Hall. \n\nAbout the Concert\n\nCome join us as the Postsecondary students share their musical works-in-progress! And always expect the unexpected! \n\nRanging from Bach to Brubeck to Bluegrass to Beatles\, as well as originals and beyond\, these free concerts bring together fellow students and the public\, to share in the joy of music. \n\nSince September 1979\, the Victoria Conservatory of Music has proudly represented Camosun College as its exclusive provider of music programming. \n\n \nVenue Accessibility \n\nThe 900 Johnson Street entrance is wheelchair accessible at street level. There’s a drop-off zone out front\, elevator access inside\, and several accessible washrooms\, including a gender-neutral washroom.  \n\nWe honour Canoo and Access 2 Passes. SUMMARY:Cello Masterclass with Andreas Brantelid
DESCRIPTION:This event is at the University of Victoria School of Music MacLaurin Building\, B-Wing Room B037 \nAdmission is free. Seating is limited and available on a first-come\, first-served basis. \n\n\nInternationally renowned cellist Andreas Brantelid shares his knowledge and insight in a special public masterclass featuring four outstanding young cellists from the Victoria Conservatory of Music and the University of Victoria. Participants will perform selected repertoire and work with Brantelid on interpretation\, technique\, and musical expression\, offering audiences a rare opportunity to witness the artistic process in real time. \n\nAbout Andreas Brantelid\n\nInternationally acclaimed cellist Andreas Brantelid is celebrated for his expressive musicianship\, charismatic stage presence\, and virtuosic playing. He made his concerto debut with the Royal Danish Orchestra at age fourteen and went on to win first prizes at the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition and the Paulo Cello Competition. His many honors include a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship\, BBC New Generation Artist designation\, and the Carl Nielsen Prize. \n\nBrantelid has appeared with leading orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra\, BBC Symphony Orchestra\, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich\, and Seattle Symphony\, and performs regularly at major international festivals. He serves as Co-Artistic Director of the Stavanger International Chamber Music Festival and is a visiting professor at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
