SUMMARY:Choral Summer Intensive Final Performance
DESCRIPTION:Entry for this event in Alix Goolden Performance Hall is at 900 Johnson Street \n\n\nAbout the Concert\nThe 2026 Victoria Conservatory of Music Choral Summer Intensive concludes with a performance celebrating a vibrant cross-section of Canadian choral repertoire. Drawing on both contemporary composition and folk traditions\, the program reflects the depth and diversity of Canada’s choral voice. \n\nFeatured works include Harry Somers’ Feller from Fortune\, Lydia Adams’ We Rise Again\, and Eleanor Daley’s The Stars Are with the Voyager. Folk-inspired selections such as J’entends le moulin (arr. Donald Patriquin)\, Away from the Roll of the Sea (arr. D. Loomer)\, and Song for the Mira (arr. Stuart Calvert) highlights the enduring influence of regional traditions\, while Sarah Quartel’s ‘Hope’ Is the Thing with Feathers\, Tobin Stokes’ Hunker Down\, and David Archer’s Grant Us Peace bring a contemporary expressive range to the program. \n\nPrepared over an intensive week of rehearsal\, this performance showcases the artistry and commitment of the participating singers while offering a compelling portrait of Canadian choral music today. \n\nBrian Wismath\, Artistic Director \nWendy Stofer\, Pianist \n\n\nVenue Accessibility\n\nThe 900 Johnson Street entrance is wheelchair accessible at street level.
