Jayden Eric Beaudoin, CD, MMus has joined the Conservatory faculty as of October 2024, where he teaches a newly designed music video course, and also percussion, including mallet instruments and timpani.
Jayden has an eclectic career that has taken him from his hometown of Surrey BC, to perform around the world with groups such as the Vancouver Metropolitan Opera and Royal City Musical Theatre; countless orchestras; as part of the military bands of the Ceremonial Guard, 15th Field Artillery, Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, Royal Canadian Artillery, and 5th Field Artillery; and as a street performer.
With a varied taste, Jayden has found himself equally at home in a variety of styles including rock, pop and top 40’s; combo and big band jazz; orchestral, symphonic, and choral; musical theatre and opera; military, marching band, and drumline; as well as various inter-cultural and traditional music genres.
Notable accolades include the Canadian premiere of Casey Cangelosi’s Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra No. 2 with the UWO Symphony Orchestra in 2014; recording Bach’s 371 Harmonized Chorales in four parts on marimba during the COVID-19 pandemic; performing in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle in 2019; scripting, directing, and shooting an urban mobility video project through the European Institute of Technology in 2022; and riding his bicycle 11,500 km across Canada in 2023, which culminated in authoring a book about the experience titled Cycling From Sea to Sea: One Hundred Days Across Canada.
Jayden has also worked extensively in auxiliary and administration roles, holding positions such as head librarian (Band of the 5th (BC) Field Regiment), personnel manager (UWO Symphony Orchestra), operations manager and box office manager (former Orchestra London), public relations assistant (Royal Canadian Artillery Band), assistant production manager (Music in the Morning), executive board member (London Musicians Association). He also works as a stagehand, stage manager, and audio engineer.
Jayden holds a BMus (2011) from the University of British Columbia and a MMus (2014) from Western University in London, Ontario. He created the Marg Beaudoin Memorial Scholarship Endowment at Douglas College in 2018 to honour and preserve the memory of his mother.
