Armand Huang-Saberi

B.Mus (UVic), M.Mus (UBC)

Armand Huang-Saberi is a Canadian pianist and piano teacher. His two favourite aspects of music are performing and teaching.

Armand Huang-Saberi holds a Bachelor’s degree in piano performance from the University of Victoria and a Master’s degree in piano performance from the University of British Columbia. During this time, Armand had the opportunity of studying with internationally acclaimed artists such as Ingrid Henderson, Dr. Jamie Syer, Michelle Mares, Mark Anderson and Rena Sharon. Armand also regularly attended summer festivals in Canada and abroad to further his education. This allowed him the fortune of having masterclasses with master pianists Prof. Anton Kuerti (Order of Ontario), Prof. John Perry,  and Andrej Jasinski (Dr.h.c).

As a teacher:
Armand finds teaching to be the most rewarding aspect of his career. The opportunity of sharing his knowledge about the musical, technical, theoretical, and historical aspects of music is a joy. Armand fosters an encouraging environment, so that his students feel empowered. He acknowledges their strengths and suggests solutions. Every student has different musical goals and wishes. Whether they wish to prepare for an exam, competition, or simply wish to learn their favourite pieces for their own pleasure, Armand offers the tools and his expertise to help them achieve their goals.

Armand as a performer:
From a young age, Armand performed with chamber ensembles. At the age of 16, he performed L.V. Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with the Victoria Conservatory of Music Symphony and Choir. He has won awards at the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival and won the Johann Stauss Competition at Uvic. This competition enabled him to participate in the prestigious Mozarteum University of Music’s summer festival in Salzburg, Austria. As a pianist, Armand enjoys sharing beautiful music with his audience. Therefore, he is always working on a concert project to present.
