B.A. Child and Youth Care (UVic)
Jessie-Anne Tromsness completed her Dental Assisting Certificate in 2013 and worked at the Okanagan Dental Care for Kids in Kelowna, BC. While working she solidified her true passion building relationships with children through teaching and creating strong attachments. She then completed her Early Childhood Education Certificate (2015) and her Infant Toddler and Special Needs Diploma (2017) while working at CEFA (Core Education and Fine Arts) Early Learning Center. She excelled at planning and implementing engaging circle times, music, and dance lessons that captured the children’s attention and instilled the desire to learn through having fun.
She continued her educational journey in family relationships and a broader spectrum of development by completing her BA in Child and Youth Care with an Early Years Specialty at UVIC in 2019. Her passion for multiculturalism, community, and social justice was actualized in her final year of studies through an international practicum in Cambodia, working closely with two charities, Extreme Love Ministries and The Moving Classroom in order “to give children who are marginalized an access to a quality, holistic education so they will live long and prosperous lives.”
Jessie-Anne is the head choreographer of dances and action songs for the children’s ministry at her church and is one of the leaders of worship music, through voice, in the adult services. She strongly desires to make a difference in children’s lives by listening, educating, inspiring, caring, and bringing the joy of music to all in the most accessible, equitable, and inclusive way possible.
Jessie-Anne is elated to have started teaching music in the Early Childhood Music department at VCM, Oct 2020 and wishes to pursue continuing education in Orff Music Teacher Training.
