If you’ve been craving the chance to deepen your choral practice, challenge yourself musically, and perform extraordinary repertoire alongside top-tier musicians, the Victoria Conservatory of Music’s Choral Summer Intensive Program is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
Taking place August 18–23, 2025, this six-day program offers singers a unique chance to rehearse and perform in a mixed-voice chamber choral setting, led by esteemed conductor Brian Wismath. Known for his collaborative approach and musical sensitivity, Brian will guide participants through an inspiring and intensive rehearsal process that culminates in a public performance, joined by the renowned Emily Carr String Quartet.
Repertoire & Special Features
This summer’s repertoire is especially exciting, showcasing a rich and diverse selection of works. Highlights include Mendelssohn’s “Hear My Prayer,” Duruflé’s “Ubi Caritas,” and the moving “Earth Song” by Frank Ticheli, along with the evocative “Dark & Luminous Night” by Ola Gjeilo and Piazzolla’s “Libertango.” The program also features the Canadian premiere of “The Brontë Suite” by Irish composer Libby Croad, and a brand-new commissioned work by internationally acclaimed Canadian-Iranian composer Iman Habibi.
Participants will also enjoy exclusive access to Q&A sessions and talks with Iman Habibi and members of the Emily Carr String Quartet, gaining unique insights into the creative and interpretive process behind these works.
Who Should Participate
While the program is open to singers of all levels, it is strongly recommended that participants have experience reading sheet music. Registrants will receive a full score package in advance to allow for personal preparation before the first rehearsal.

For those who wish to observe the program without singing, an auditing option is available for $100, which includes the score package. Please note: auditors do not participate vocally.
