The Victoria Conservatory of Music and the Pacific Baroque Festival are delighted to announce a program of music by one of the mostly widely celebrated, admired and honoured composers in the history of Western music: Georg Frideric Handel.
“Handel is the greatest and ablest of all composers; from him I can still learn” – Ludwig van Beethoven
Four days of Handel’s music… what a rare opportunity! From February 19-22, 2015, Victoria will get an opportunity to discover the scope of Handel’s music, from his grand works for royal occasions to some of his rarely performed, more intimate cantatas and arias. To create this year’s journey of discovery, the Festival brings to Victoria the largest baroque orchestra in its 11 year history, with strings supported by oboes, flutes, bassoons, natural trumpets and horns, and timpani drums. Add the Victoria Children’s Choir and soloists to the Saturday evening concert, and the Alix Goolden Performance Hall will be home to a special occasion that should not be missed!
