The Power of Music
Music is powerful. We see it demonstrated every day at the Victoria Conservatory of Music (VCM) and in every corner around the world, music touches our lives. One of our ChoirKids who came to live in Victoria from war torn Syria, told us that singing ‘feels like peace’. Such is the impact of how music can express how we feel. A planned gift to the VCM can help to ensure that music continues to make an impact in our community.

The Goolden Legacy
The Victoria Conservatory of Music (VCM) owes its existence to an individual who demonstrated the foresight and commitment to music in our community, our founder, Mrs. Alix Goolden. Her gift to the VCM was a living legacy used for establishing a concert hall which is now one of the finest in the region. Mrs. Goolden was an inspiration to many including her family who continue to support her vision and provide for the future of the VCM.
If you have created a legacy for music at the VCM, we would love to hear your story.
Remembering Ann Nation
Ann and her beloved husband, George (who passed away in 2017) have been long-time, loyal and very generous donors to the VCM. Ann’s mother, Mrs. Alix Goolden, was the founder of the Victoria Conservatory of Music in 1964 and Ann and George went on to continue her work and to provide extraordinary and generous support that has helped sustain the VCM over all of these years.
Ann and George also founded the Mother’s Day Garden Tour which has become the biggest single fundraising event for the VCM and one of the most loved annual events in Greater Victoria.
