Curriculum

This one-year (eight month) program will develop your skills in theory/rudiments, provide you with one-one studio instruction, large and small ensemble opportunities, and prepare you for further postsecondary music studies.

The Certificate in Music Creativity and Performance Foundations is a one-year course of studies and is designed for students intending to pursue studies in music at the postsecondary level, and who may require additional learning, including theory/rudiments and one-to-one studio instruction.

With a focus on music theory, creativity and performance practice, you’ll master the foundational elements of your chosen area of musical study and have guided opportunities to explore aspects of creativity and practice in music.

You’ll receive in-depth one-to-one studio instruction on your chosen principal instrument with the goal of:

  • Introducing you to new repertoire
  • Enhancing your practicing skills and technical fluency
  • Exploring creative expression

  • Developing excellence in numerous aspects of performance

Upon completion of the Certificate in Music Creativity and Performance Foundations, graduates are well-prepared to enter the Diploma in Music Performance program.
