Alex Olson is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and has a Diploma of Jazz and Commercial Music from Capilano College. He is a Sessional Instructor of Double Bass at the University of Victoria and has been playing with the Victoria Symphony continuously since 1981. Alex teaches Double Bass at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, for both the Classical Strings program, and also for the Department of Postsecondary Studies.
Born in Victoria, BC, Alex Olson is seen often in concerts and gigs, not only in the capital region but also in Sidney, Duncan, Nanaimo and Vancouver. He has performed with the Palm Court Orchestra, Sidney Classical Orchestra, Raven Baroque, Vancouver Island Symphony, JamShed, The Klez, Victoria Operatic Society, The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Opera, Victoria Bach Ensemble and numerous jazz and folk ensembles.
