2022 VCM Student Summer Success

We are proud to share the success of several Victoria Conservatory of Music students during the summer of 2022! Federation of Canadian Music Festivals

Chamber Ensemble

Collegium chamber groups took all the first-place awards at the Nationals, including:
  • Advanced- Rachmaninov Trio – Layla Park (violin), Nicole Teachman (cello), Charles Dutton (piano)
  • Intermediate- Mercury Trio– Felina Yang (piano), Michael Luo (violin), Kevin Lim (cello)
  • Junior- Berlioz Trio – Elana Lin (violin), Veronica Park (violin), Max Wang (piano)
The Berlioz Trio and Rachmaninov Trio also took 1st place in their respective categories at the inaugural Canada West Performing Arts Festival, held in Saskatoon in mid-July.

Piano

1st place- Felicia Ma. Studied with Ingrid Henderson. 

Strings

2nd place- Max Francis. Studied with Simon MacDonald (classical violin), Ivonne Hernandez and Daniel Lapp, (fiddle, Contemporary School).

CBC Music | 30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30, 2022 edition

Collegium Alumni Lexie Krakowski (cello), and Johnathan Devey (piano) were named to CBC’s “Top 30 under 30” classical musicians in Canada list, continuing to demonstrate the exceptional foundation that the Victoria Conservatory of Music, the Young Artist Collegium Program, and the various instrumental departments offer local aspiring classical musicians.
