Join us in wishing a very happy 101st birthday to Joan Giles!
Many of you have seen Joan’s familiar and supportive presence in Alix Goolden Performance Hall, applauding our students year after year. Joan has been a cherished friend of the Conservatory from its early days, and her contributions have left an indelible mark on our community.
As a writer by profession, Joan has captured the heart and history of the Conservatory through her works. Her books, Forty Years in Four Movements: The History of the Victoria Conservatory of Music’s First Forty Years, and its sequel, Encore: The Continuing Story of the Victoria Conservatory of Music, stand as invaluable records of our journey and growth.
Joan, you are truly a pillar of the Conservatory, and we are all deeply grateful for your unwavering support and dedication.
Three cheers for Joan!
