Adaptive Learning
We are Canada's Leading Centre for Music Therapy and Wellness
What is Adaptive Learning?
Adaptive learning offers opportunities to meet the unique needs of each student, offering personalized instruction that accommodates diverse abilities, learning styles, and goals. It empowers individuals with physical, cognitive, or emotional challenges to experience the joy of making music, fostering creativity, self-expression, and confidence. Through customized teaching methods, adaptive learning ensures that all students, regardless of their background or ability, can access the transformative benefits of music education and build meaningful connections to the music they love.
How Does Adaptive Learning Work?
The completed Find a Teacher Form (above) gets sent directly to the Head of the Centre for Music Therapy and Wellness, who will assess what adaptations are required for each student, and then communicate with the appropriate Artistic Director of Classical, Contemporary, or Music Technology and Creativity to explore which teacher could be a match. If the needs are greater than a music teacher can offer, music therapists will be considered for a match. Once a teacher/therapist is secured, they will be introduced to the student/family via email to begin a conversation about lessons.
In the event there is no available teacher for a specific instrument or location/time, the head of Music Therapy and Wellness will contact the student/family and add them to a waitlist.
Please note: Autism funding can only be used towards lessons with music therapists.
