Kathryn Wiebe will be teaching “Technique for Fiddling” at the Victoria Conservatory of Music to give fiddle students the technical and musical tools they need to expand their artistic potential. With a background in both modern playing and baroque performance practice, Kathryn is passionate about pairing technical and theory-based development while teaching new styles and repertoire.
Kathryn is an active and versatile freelance baroque and modern violinist and educator in Victoria, British Columbia. She regularly performs with the Victoria Symphony, and is a member of Victoria Baroque Players, Pacific Baroque Orchestra, Pacific Baroque Festival, and a core performer in Fever’s Candlelight Concerts. She has appeared as a guest leader/violinist for Per Sonatori Baroque Ensemble in Regina, and, in recent years, was a featured performer alongside Ed Sheeran and Jann Arden. Kathryn is an avid educator and adjudicator, and is head of Classical Faculty for Comox Valley Youth Music Centre.
As a busy entrepreneur, Kathryn is the owner of Cascadia Strings, an award-winning professional event music company.
