Müge Büyükçelen is a highly accomplished and versatile violinist, widely recognized for her contributions to a diverse range of musical genres. With a rich career that spans across international performances, premieres of contemporary works, and active teaching roles, Müge’s influence in both classical and modern music is undeniable.

Her performance highlights are notable: premiering Jared Miller’s violin concerto, performing the Beethoven Violin Concerto, touring Australia and New Zealand, and collaborating with composers such as Jennifer Butler, Paul Frehner, and Michael Finnissy. Additionally, as part of the Emily Carr String Quartet (ECSQ), she has contributed to their critically acclaimed album Beloved of the Sky, which garnered a nomination for Best Album of the Year at the 2024 Western Classical Music Awards.

Müge’s solo recordings, such as Spanning Tree, also earned prestigious recognition, with a nomination for Best Classical Album in 2022. She is a core member of the Victoria Symphony, ECSQ, and the Aventa Ensemble, and she has a thriving role as a violin teacher at the Victoria Conservatory of Music.

Her extensive educational background includes a Master’s in music performance from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, an associate teaching diploma from the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and a teaching assistant position at the Toulouse National Conservatory in France. Additionally, her career as a juror for several prestigious music competitions, such as the Eckhardt-Gramatte National Competition and Juno Awards, showcases her authority in the classical music community.

Müge has also had notable soloist engagements with orchestras worldwide, premiering several Canadian compositions, such as Michael Oesterle’s Archimedes’ Codex and Cameron Wilson’s Canadian Four Seasons. Her dedication to advancing Canadian music and championing new works makes her an influential figure in contemporary classical music.
