Wes Carroll

Wes Carroll has recently joined the Victoria Conservatory of Music Faculty, teaching contemporary guitar (electric and acoustic) within the Chwyl Family School of Contemporary Music. He is an experienced studio instructor, workshop clinician, and guitar adjudicator. He teaches a wide variety of musical styles along with improvisation, technique, and performance-mindfulness, and incorporates his experience and knowledge as singer/songwriter with expertise also in music theory and jazz harmony. In his lessons, he aims to assist his students’ search for depth, identity, joy, and confidence.

As performer, Wes currently sings lead vocals and plays bass in the very successful “PIGS, Canada’s Pink Floyd” tribute band, while also performing in a number of other groups either as hired pro, or as a permanent member, including for Windcruiser (local R&B, pop, and funk), Wes Montgomery Tribute: Wes – Plays – Wes, Grapefruit is Impossible (original hip hop), and his own band Wes Carroll Confabulation, which is working on their third album set to be released this fall through Toronto’s Flatcar Records.

Wes holds a master’s in jazz performance from University of Toronto along with a bachelor’s in jazz studies from Vancouver Island University, and teaches at the Victoria Conservatory of Music’s downtown location, where he also works part-time as Music Program Developer and Coordinator for the School of Contemporary Music.
