Judge’s comments
“There is so much joy on the faces of these students as they perform, and that joy comes across clearly in the sound that they produce. I absolutely loved the arrangement of this song, the confidence and tone of voice of the soloist, the harmonies and the excellent teamwork that was displayed by this group. Well done!” — Jasmine Denham, Juno-nominated songwriter and CBC Music producer.
Canadian Music School Challenge entry
Chosen from the CBC Music list of Canadian songs, the B.C. Fiddle Orchestra chose “Heart of Gold” by Neil Young as their Community Music School entry.
What is the CBC Canadian Music Class Challenge?
Every fall, CBC Music in association with MusiCounts — the charity of the Juno Awards — launches the Canadian Music Class Challenge, a contest to engage music classes across the country with Canadian music. Instructors are challenged to teach their students a Canadian song from their list and send in a video of their performance.
Video submissions in nine categories have the opportunity to win great prizes and a whole lot of love and recognition from CBC Music.
