Congratulations to all our students who participated in this year’s French Art Song Competition, held on the evening of Wednesday, February 16 in the Alix Goolden Performance Hall. Our adjudicators Anne Grimm and Benjamin Butterfield were very pleased with how well prepared each singer was and found it a delightful evening listening to all of the performances (40 songs in total) from the 20 participants.  The evening started at 4:30 and ended around 10:15 pm.

The results are as follows:

Junior Division:

First Prize ($50) awarded to Mia Nadra from the studio of Georgina Craig

Second Prize ($35) awarded to Eleonora Yeranyan from the studio of Gina Johnson

Intermediate Division:

As we only had the one candidate – Marlo Karakas, who by the way did very well – it was not possible to award prizes.

Senior A Division:<

First Prize ($100) awarded to Alex Chen from the studio of Nancy Argenta

Second Prize ($75) awarded to Yanina Kosivanova from the studio of Kiiri Michelsen

Honourable Mention awarded to Alexis Meservia from the studio of Maureen Branch

Senior B Division:

Honourable Mention awarded to Heather Valsangkar from the studio of Georgina Craig

Congratulations again to all! Mark your calendar for the final voice competition for this year – the Italian and other World Languages – is scheduled for Wednesday March 30 in Alix Goolden Hall.
