Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Statement
All are welcome at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, where we believe that music is a universal language that can bring people together in hope, love, equality, compassion and mutual respect. Our 150+ team of music instructors and staff represent many cultures, identities, and abilities.
Through our scholarships and bursaries support, the Conservatory promotes access to all who express an interest in learning music, regardless of financial means.
Through our commitment to lifelong wellness through music, we welcome participants of all ages and abilities, especially those experiencing any of a wide range of health considerations or exceptionalities, to experience an improved quality of life through the therapeutic use of music.
We proudly played host to one of the nation’s leading stages for professional 2SLGBTQIA+ performance, the former Metro Studio, operated by Intrepid Theatre within our Victoria location.
As a music school for the whole community, we remain committed to providing an inclusive, supportive, and welcoming learning environment. We stand in solidarity against racism and intolerance and embrace the shared responsibility to create a safe space free of discrimination.
We aim to respond to all suggestions to maintain a supportive environment for all who engage with the Conservatory. We take a continuous improvement approach in addressing barriers to participation where everyone belongs regardless of gender, age, sex, race, class, religion, ethnicity, ability, language, or sexual orientation.
