VCM Presents opens its 2026/27 season with an exceptional evening of chamber music featuring the acclaimed Cheng² Duo and celebrated clarinetist James Campbell.
The season begins on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 7:30 pm at the Alix Goolden Performance Hall (entrance at 900 Johnson Street), bringing together three internationally renowned artists for a performance defined by connection, artistry, and imagination.

A striking collaboration to open the season
The JUNO-nominated Cheng² Duo has earned international acclaim for its expressive intensity and seamless musical dialogue. Cellist Bryan Cheng and pianist Silvie Cheng perform with a rare unity shaped by years of collaboration on major stages across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
They are joined by James Campbell, one of Canada’s most distinguished clarinetists, known for a remarkable international career as soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist.
Together, these artists bring a program that highlights the depth, intimacy, and expressive power of chamber music at its finest.

James Campbell
An internationally celebrated clarinetist, James Campbell has performed in more than 30 countries and collaborated with many of the world’s leading orchestras and chamber ensembles. His extensive recording catalogue and decades of artistic leadership have made him one of Canada’s most influential wind musicians.
