About the concerts

Join us for two nights celebrating ‘The Joy of Life’ through music as Daniel Lapp once again brings together a delightful mix of singing and fiddling. Come and witness the magic of over 150 performers of all ages joining together for an unforgettable experience in the Victoria Conservatory’s beautiful Alix Goolden Performance Hall!

The Joy of Life concerts take place on Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26, at 7:30 PM. This year’s performances feature many special guests along with the young fiddlers of the Old-Time Danceband and the BC Fiddle Orchestra (BCFO) who will be joined by some alumni from the past 31 years of BCFO history. Also adding to the toe-tapping excitement of the evening will be members of Folkestra! and the always popular Joy of Life Choir, backed by the mighty Joy of Life House Band of renowned local musicians:

Leeroy Stagger

This year’s special guest is Leeroy Stagger, an acclaimed singer-songwriter known for his raw, heartfelt lyrics and a sound that blends rock, folk, and Americana. With a career spanning over two decades, Stagger has released multiple albums and toured internationally, captivating audiences with his storytelling and rich musicality.

“This year’s concert will be a very special occasion as we welcome Leeroy Stagger as our guest for the first time. The youth fiddlers are poised and ready to celebrate the launch of a new album with you entitled ‘Tumbleweed Rag’ and the Joy of Life choir has some stellar new songs that will be performed for the first time. We cherish our annual spring concert that celebrates, through music and community, the gift of being alive,” said Daniel Lapp.

A Celebration of Music and Community

Topped off with performances by Daniel’s special guests, these concerts inspire all ages, celebrating life as it blossoms in spring across the nation and resonates at home in Victoria through the wonderful power of live Canadian music.

We acknowledge the support of the CRD Arts & Culture Support Service and the Province of British Columbia.
