Join the Victoria Conservatory of Music Young Artist Collegium program’s very own Jubilee Flute Quartet for an evening of music that will transport you from Columbia, to North America, to the Balkans, to Japan! This uniquely multicultural program will feature selected flute works by Bartok, Beeftink, Miyagi, Revelo, Rozman, Takemitsu, and even quartet member Tyler Evans-Knott. The Jubilee Flute Quartet is delighted to craft a concert that not only reflects the ensemble’s sheer cultural diversity and the intrinsic ability of art to bring people together regardless of their background, but also showcases all instruments of the flute family, a variety of ensemble sizes, digital and piano accompaniment, and a special quintet finale with their dear mentor Dr. Mary Byrne.

First place winners of the 2024 Victoria Conservatory Senior Chamber Ensemble Competition, the Jubilee Flute Quartet came to life through the Conservatory’s Young Artists Senior Collegium Program and features Tyler Evans-Knott on piccolo and flute, Miya Doak and Daniel Sanabria on flute, and Emilia Vozian on alto flute. The quartet is mentored by Dr. Mary Byrne and has recently been recommended by the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival to the National Festival’s Local Stream Qualifying Round. Beyond their musical successes, the Jubilee Flute Quartet ensemble members are distinguished by their diverse representation of Anishinaabe, Japanese, Columbian, and Moldovan backgrounds. Whether chuckling in the practice room or performing on stage, this tight-knit quartet is marked by a communal joy for the collaborative creation of music.
