Opera Quest 2025 is pleased to present JÉHANNE, an operatic exploration of the extraordinary vision quest of the French heroine, Joan of Arc.
Composed by Opera Quest Artistic Director Colin Doroschuk , JÉHANNE will be developed for the stage in creative collaboration with a cast of emerging artists, singers, dancers, and an experienced production team of industry professionals.
The bilingual libretto will be in English and in French.
The World Premiere performance of JÉHANNE will be presented on June 27th, 2025 in the spectacular acoustic of the Alix Goolden Performance Hall.
The cast will feature three young emerging Canadian operatic artists:
Kathryn Riopel – soprano
Jessica Lyublinsky – mezzo soprano
Natalie Vong – mezzo soprano
The production will include an orchestra of acoustic, electric, and electronic instruments and a chorus comprised of talented vocalists of the Victoria Conservatory of Music.
What is Opera Quest?
Opera Quest is a paid performance and training opportunity for emerging singers to explore all aspects of opera production. Through auditions, selected singers will join a creative ensemble to rehearse and premiere a new original opera at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, performed in the stunning Alix Goolden Performance Hall.
Participants receive mentorship from top industry professionals in music and stage direction, choreography, design, lighting, sound, and arts entrepreneurship—gaining hands-on experience and valuable credits for their professional résumés.

Venue Accessibility
The 900 Johnson Street entrance is at ground-level and wheelchair accessible. There is an elevator located on the first floor: as you enter the building go down the ramp to your right and the elevator is on the left at the bottom. Priority seating can be provided at concerts if you have accessibility issues; please contact the Venues Department . Wheelchair accessible restrooms are located on the main floor, beside the lobby in the Reception and Registration area.
